Beginner Ice Skating Lessons: Our Fun-Skate Program
Our Fun-Skate Program is designed to teach the basics of ice skating, and offers rolling enrollment throughout the year, so you can decide to join at any time. These lessons are appropriate for anyone ages 4 and up, including adults! (Adult lessons start 30 minutes later than the kids’ lessons.)
Attending skating lessons regularly is the best way to maximize the benefits of ice
skating and maintain your growth and progress. In addition to classes and practice time, we also offer several extra skating opportunities throughout the year: Spring and Christmas ice shows, as well as Halloween and Valentine’s on Ice exhibitions. These extra skating opportunities are open to all of our students, regardless of skills or experience.
- Tuesdays 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturdays 9 a.m. to 10:30 am.
- Be sure to check the calendar to make sure our Learn to Skate sessions are planned for the date you wish to begin.
How it works:
Choose your session and arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the class start time in order to register and get fitted for skates. The first 30 minutes of each group session is taught by one of our amazing professional skating instructors.
After the group session, there will be an area on the ice for up to 1 hour of practice time. Sessions meet once per week for a total of 8 weeks.
There are a total of 8 levels of ice skating developed by the United States Figure Skating Association. Skaters will advance to the next level once they accomplish the required skating maneuvers for each level. We do not pressure skaters to advance too quickly; each skater progresses at his or her own pace.
Initial Enrollment Fee is $174 plus tax and includes 8 weeks of “Fun-Skate” sessions, a new pair of personal ice skates that are yours to keep, a 1 year membership with the United States Figure Skating Association (required), an 8 week season skating pass to open public sessions and a USFS Learn to Skate Fun Pack. Additional sets of 8 lessons can be purchased after the initial enrollment for $125 plus tax.
Things to Remember:
It can be chilly in the ice arena, especially on the ice surface during fall and winter. A warm hat, gloves, and layers of clothing are suggested, but be careful to not wear anything too bulky that might restrict adequate movement and flexibility while skating.
